This years elite races are part of the Bike NZ 2010 National Road Series

The Elite Men will race the K2 course in a separate start, 15 minutes before the rest of the field.

The Elite Women will race the Orca K1 course in a separate start, 15 minutes before the rest of the field.

Prize / Competition

There has been a substantial increase in the prize pool this year and the total cash prize pool for the 2010 Elite races is $10,875.

The winners (men and women) of the Under 23 category will also recognised.

Teams Race

There will be a $1,000 prize for the fastest overall team in mens and womens elite races. This will be determined by the combined time of the quickest three riders from each team. To qualify there must be a minimum of five teams entered in each race with at least three riders per team. The maximum number of riders in a team is eight.

King of the Mountains

Points will be awarded to the first three riders depending on the category of hill (see detailed rules). The prizes for the first three are as follows:

Course Record

There will be an additional $1,000 prize money for setting a new course record on the K2 course. The current record is 5:02:34 set by Jeremy Yates in 2008.
