Entry is by post, on-line entry (credit card) via www.eneronline.co.nz or online entry via our website (internet banking). Entries must be received, with payment by 25th October at the latest. Confirmation of entry is by email only.

Compulsory Equipment
• New Zealand Standards approved cycling helmet

Recommended Equipment
This is an extremely long event if you are riding solo. There will be water available at the transitions and at strategic points on the course, however we recommend that you carry plenty of fluids and food with you. It is also recommended that you carry a windproof jacket.. Competitors should also be prepared to carry out repairs to their cycles and it is recommended that you carry at least two spare tubes and a pump.

Traffic
The event will take place on public roads WHICH ARE NOT CLOSED TO OTHER ROAD USERS. The roads are relatively narrow and you must keep on your side of the road at all times and obey the road rules. This is an extremely hilly course and you should be extremely careful on the downhill sections. There are also a number of one lane bridges on the course. Where the road signs indicate you must give way to oncoming traffic.

Electronic Transponders
The timing of the event is carried out an independent timing company and you will be required to wear an electronic transponder. You must return the transponder to a marshal at the finishing line after the race. Failure to return the transponder may result in a $50 charge. If you decide to withdraw from the race, please do not give the transponder to another rider, as it will distort the timing. Just hand it in at prize giving or send it to us ( PO Box 79, Coromandel) in the week following the race.

Race Numbers
Race numbers will be provided and must be displayed clearly on the front of your helmet. Riders not displaying a race number will not be allowed to continue in the race.

Relay Riders
Relay riders must change at the appropriate transition areas. Team riders should pass their electronic transponders to their team mates. Team members should leave the before the start of the race and head on to the next transition.

Limited Entry
Entry into the event is limited to 1,000 riders per race

Spectators / Support Vehicles
Spectators should not follow their riders along the course. Please be very conscious of all riders. The roads are very narrow along the course, particularly between Coromandel and Thames. Under no circumstances should cyclists be supported from moving vehicles. This will result in disqualification. Support vehicles are not allowed to closely follow their cyclists around the course.

Support vehicles and spectators on the road are a huge danger to cyclists in an event like the K2 .We will be monitoring this closely this year and will disqualify cyclists where support vehicles are identified.

Support Vehicle Declaration

We will be requiring cyclists to sign a declaration form at registration. This will state the following:

o K2 – We will not be supported by a vehicle on the course or have any vehicles on the course
o Pearl Izumi K1 – We will not be supported by a vehicle on the course and our support drivers will travel to the finish line in Thames via Tairua and not Coromandel
o Quarter K – We will not be supported by a vehicle on the course and our support drivers will travel to the finish at Thames before the start of the race. They will not stop on the course.

This is all designed to make the race safer for cyclists !

Water Stops
Water will be available at all transitions. In addition 200 filled water bottles and water stations will be placed at the following positions on the course:

o Pumpkin Hill
o Kuaotunu Hill
o Whangapoua Hill
o Kereta Hill

The stations will be located at strategic positions on the incline of these hills.

Support Crews
There will be available on the course cycle mechanics, first aid teams and a sag wagon.

Results
Results and finishing times will be posted on the web site on the day following the race.

Bike Checks
There are some major downhill sections on the course and it is strongly recommended that you have your bikes checked out prior to the race. Free Bike checks will be provided at Cycle City, 45 Cavendish Drive, Manukau City.

Training and preparation for race
All 4 stages of the event have challenging hills and we recommend that you get plenty of hill training in. It would also be a good idea to train on the course prior to the event. You may also wish to review your normal choice of gear ratios for the race.
