The Great Cranleigh Kauri Run comprises of a series of off road trail runs or walks which take place on the stunningly beautiful Northern Coromandel Peninsula.
The 2014 event is the Eleventh Anniversary of this spectacular event.
The event comprises of the following distances:
200 years ago most of the Coromandel peninsula was covered in Kauri Forest. Today very few of these majestic giants of the forest remain. A kauri tree will be planted along the trail for each person that participates in the event and our vision is to plant 10,000 trees over the next ten years and to create an avenue of Kauri all the way from Waikawau to Coromandel.
The date is locked in for 2014 so mark that on the calendar!

Following a good idea from last years Ultra runners Hoogie and Kerry we have decided to add in a relay option to this years Kauri Ultra. We have also decided to start the Ultra from Port Jackson which has more accommodation options. This will add 6km onto the run.
The Relay will be for teams of two with the first person running the 44km to Waikawau and the 2nd person running the final 32km to Coromandel town. The two halfs, although different in distance, will be similar in effort.
There is also a category for teams of 4. The first person will run to Port Charles, the 2nd person to Waikawau, the 3rd person to the top of the Kennedy Bay Road and the 4th person to the finish line. We also have a special services team category in this event and it is open the the armed forces, fire brigades, police and any other uniformed group.
