Stage 1 – White Star Station to White Star Station (via Waitete Bay) (20km)
This course is designed for riders that may be relatively new to mountain biking or who are keen to get a taste of single track mountain biking. The race starts and finishes at the White Star Station.
Riders head into Colville before turning left onto Woods Road North. From here is a gradual climb along unsealed road. It eventually turns into a farm track which itself turns into a single track. There is about 3 km of single track that comes out into Waitete Bay South. This is followed by a quick descent into Waitete Bay.
From Waitete bay riders head up the Colville Hill before turning right into farmland just before the summit. There is a further climb before descending back down towards the White Star Station and finish area.
It is expected that the quickest riders will complete the course in just over an hour, the average time will be around 1:30 and the slowest riders will take around 2 hours.
The course is 100% rideable in good weather conditions !!
